Mike Cairney, a Brewster High School graduate who just wrapped up three-and-a-half years in the US Army, was not expecting the greeting he received Tuesday morning as he arrived home [see attached video].
As he drove into Putnam Lake with his mother and one of his sisters, Cairney saw friends and family members gathered outside the firehouse.
The 26-year-old was relieved to be back.
He didn't hesitate when asked what he would do first when he got home.
"Have a beer," Cairney said.
