PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — A New Jersey man accused of breaking into a home in Philipstown in 2022 was arrested Dec. 14 in White Plains, Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville announced.

Sheriff's deputies called to a home on Route 9D after midnight Aug. 3, 2022, quickly identified a suspect by reviewing surveillance camera footage and collecting blood and fingerprint evidence. They sent a bulletin out to other law enforcement agencies for assistance, and were contacted by the MTA Police, who had apparently dealt with the same person at the Garrison train station earlier that evening.

Further investigation based on DNA evidence was gathered, and a warrant was issued for the arrest of Steven Moye of Haledon, New Jersey, police said.

On Dec. 14, investigators learned that Moye was to be in White Plains City Court on an unrelated matter. They took him into custody there without incident, police said.

Moye, 23, was arraigned in the Town of Philipstown Court and sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond until his next hearing date, police said.
