Laurie Susan Gabbamonte, 56, fought for 17 months and lost her battle to brain cancer on Thursday (March 21, 2013) at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel.
She was born and raised in Mount Vernon. Daughter to Domenic and Agnes Gabbamonte of Carmel, sister to Alison Gonella and late sister Susan Murphy, amazing mother to daughters Jennifer Chodan and Rebecca Hahn, and very much missed grandmother to grandchildren Leila and Domenic Chodan—who were her world.
In addition to being an amazing daughter, mother, grandmother and friend she also enjoyed scrapbooking with friends, reading, going to the movies, hiking at Mohonk Mountain and hosting delicious family dinners. Although we have lost an amazing women, her smile and easy-going personality will live forever in our hearts.

A gathering of family and friends took place at Beecher Funeral Home (located on Putnam Avenue in Brewster, 845-279-3615) Sunday, and a private cremation is set to follow.
