Opportunity Of The Week: Wool Cleaning, Marching Band, Early Learning

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

Parent-Child Center Volunteers
Twice a week, WJCS's New Rochelle Parent-Child Center transforms the gym at the Boys and Girls Club into an early learning program with activities for low-income families in New Rochelle. Volunteers are needed to help with setup and cleanup, to staff the program, and to help with arts and crafts activities. Volunteers must pass a background check, be able to lift up to 20 pounds, and be at least 18.
Date: Tuesdays/Thursdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Marching Band Supporters
The East Ramapo Alumni Marching Band is seeking volunteers to assist the band with various activities, including carrying its banner during events, parades, and performances, as well as capturing photos and videos for social media. Volunteers must be 18+.

Wool Cleaning Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help prepare raw wool for use in various farm products at Muscoot Farm. Volunteers will be carefully cleaning, sorting, and removing any debris from the wool to ensure that it's ready for the next stage of processing. This role is perfect for teens and those who enjoy hands-on work and want to learn more about the traditional craft of wool processing.
