Ossining Man Arrested For Coke During DWI Stop: Putnam County Sheriff

The 30-year-old's car had two bags of what appeared to be cocaine, along with another bag on him when he was booked into jail, cops said.

TOWN OF KENT, NY — An Ossining man's troubles kept getting worse after deciding to drive while intoxicated, according to police.

Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville says that an Ossining man was arrested on narcotics and DWI charges.

On May 28, around 10:30 p.m., a deputy on routine patrol found a vehicle stopped in the roadway on Route 301, near Hortontown Road in the Town of Kent. After speaking with the driver, the deputy determined that 30-year-old Diego G. Estrada appeared intoxicated, and he was taken into custody.

Estrada's vehicle contained two bags of what appeared to be cocaine, along with an additional bag in his possession when he was booked into the Putnam County Correctional Facility, police said.

He was charged with felony third-/fourth-degree criminal possession of narcotic drugs, misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, and second-degree promoting prison contraband. In addition, he was charged with the infractions of refusal to take a breath test and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway.

Estrada was held overnight, arraigned on May 29 in the Town of Kent Court, and released on his own recognizance. He was ordered to report to Putnam County Probation to be fitted with an electronic ankle monitor.
