PFCSAnnounces Annual Adult Spelling Bee Championship
The team championship takes place Thursday, April 14 at the Starr Ridge Banquet Center.

Putnam Family and Community Services, Inc. (PFCS) will hold its annual Adult Spelling Bee Team Championship on Thursday, April 14 from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Starr Ridge Banquet Center, located at 38 Starr Ridge Rd. The spelling bee, in its seventh year, has become a favorite event for local business and organizations who don bee-themed costumes and perform exuberant and original cheers. County Executive MaryEllen Odell will read the opening round of words to the crowd while the remainder of the event will be emceed by singer-songwriter and Putnam County resident Cat Guthrie as well as William Hammond of Edward Jones in Carmel.
A near 150 people are registered for the spelling bee as of Tuesday, March 28, a number that represents more than 15 businesses and organizations, including Putnam Hospital Center, Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Camp Herrlich, Patterson Library, Friends of Mahopac Library, MHA of Putnam, Kent Fiscal Watch and Akzo Nobel. Akzo Nobel returns to defend its 2016 championship.
