Police Charge Brewster Man with DWI, DWAI

A 22-year-old Brewster man is accused of getting behind the wheel while impaired and intoxicated, officials say.

Deputy Thomas Lee of the Putnam County Sheriff's office stopped the man at about 4:40 a.m. Sunday for a traffic violation on Main Street.

Lee found the driver to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, and pot, which he was carrying at the time, according to authorities. 

The defendant was charged with the following misdemeanors: fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, driving while ability impaired by drugs and driving while intoxicated. He was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility, where he awaited arraignment.
