Putnam County To Mark 9/11 Anniversary With Candlelight Vigil
This year, three more names are being added to the Putnam Heroes Memorial.

CARMEL, NY — Putnam County's annual September 11th Candlelight Vigil will start at 7 p.m. Monday at the Putnam Heroes Memorial located at Cornerstone Park.
The memorial honors the eight residents who died on Sept. 11, and the 11 who have died as a result of their efforts in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks.
This year three more names are being added: Lt. Michael King, FDNY, Lt. John McArdle, NYPD and F.F John McDonnell, FDNY

At this years' service, each of the Heroes' families will be presented with a flag of the United States which was flown over the World Trade Center Memorial.
The guest speaker will be U.S. Rep. Mike Lawler.

Street closures:
- Fair Street will be closed from Vink Drive to Route 52 at 6 p.m.
- Route 52 will be closed from Route 301 to Fowler Avenue at 6:15 p.m.
There will be parking in the County Parking lot behind the Knights of Columbus Hall. Additional parking is available at the Carmel High School.
