Putnam Valley Library is thrilled to announce a series of initiatives aimed at tackling food insecurity within our community. As a small library with a big heart, we are committed to ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. Our efforts encompass a variety of programs designed to provide consistent and reliable access to nutritious food for all.

Meals on Main St. Truck – Mondays, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM Every Monday, the Meals on Main St. truck will be stationed at the library from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This initiative brings recovered food and farm-fresh produce directly to those in need, offering a convenient and accessible way for community members to receive nutritious food.

Fresh Frozen Meals from Second Chance Foods In partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension, we are proud to offer fresh frozen meals from Second Chance Foods. These meals are delivered every Monday, ensuring that community members have access to healthy and balanced meals throughout the week.

24/7 Food Pantry on the Porch Our 24/7 food pantry, located on the library's porch, is always open. This self-serve pantry provides non-perishable food items at any time of day or night, making it easier for individuals and families to access food whenever they need it.

Weekly Summer Food Delivery from United Way via 211 Throughout the summer, United Way is providing weekly food deliveries. By simply dialing 211, community members can arrange to have food brought directly to their homes, removing barriers to access and ensuring that everyone has enough to eat during the warmer months.

Cole Caulfield, Programs and Outreach Coordinator, expressed their enthusiasm for these programs: "We are incredibly proud to offer these food security initiatives. By partnering with local organizations and utilizing our resources, we are making a significant impact on the lives of those in our community. We believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious food, and we are dedicated to doing our part to make that a reality."

These programs are just the beginning of Putnam Valley Library's commitment to fighting hunger. We invite the public to join us in supporting these initiatives and spreading the word about the resources available to those in need. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our community thrives.
