Sheriff's Office Talks Weekend Police Activity

Members of several different agencies were in Southeast.

Several Patch readers asked about a heavy police presence on Route 22 Sunday (May 5). Here's what Putnam County Sheriff's Office Chief Investigator A. Gerald Schramek said when asked about the activity:

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, joined by several other police agencies, conducted a multi-agency traffic safety inspection initiative on Route 22 in the Town of Southeast. The other police agencies involved consisted of members of the New York State Police, Westchester County Police Department, MTA Police Department, Town of Carmel Police Department, and Village of Brewster Police Department. Our aim is to reduce traffic crashes and make our streets safer. Additional such joint operations may be forthcoming in other areas of Putnam County.
