Vote NO for Prop 1

This Election Day after you vote for Trump, turn over the ballot and Vote No for Prop 1

I am writing to ask every New Yorker to vote NO on Proposition 1, a dangerous constitutional amendment being pushed by Democrats that will have far-reaching consequences if passed.
Set to be on the statewide ballot this November 5, 2024, Proposition 1 is framed as a measure to expand rights, but the truth is far more concerning. This proposal seeks to amend Section 11 of Article 1 of the New York State Constitution to add protections based on ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, sex—including sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression—pregnancy, and reproductive health.
While this sounds reasonable on the surface, the actual implications are alarming. If Proposition 1 passes, it will:
- Undermine the integrity of girls' sports by forcing educational institutions to allow biological males to compete in female sports.
- Open the door for males to use female locker rooms and restrooms.
- Grant minors the ability to undergo medical treatments, including gender transition surgeries, without parental consent.
- Override current laws protecting children from medical interventions that require parental involvement.
- Prevent schools from informing parents if their child is transitioning or considering a gender change.
- Extend constitutional protections to illegal aliens, further complicating immigration enforcement. Governor Kathy Hochul and her allies are promoting this amendment as primarily about abortion rights, but that is simply not the full truth.
New York already allows abortion up to the ninth month, and this proposal goes far beyond reproductive health.

Proposition 1 is an attack on parental rights, children’s safety, and the values that many New Yorkers hold dear. It opens the door to a wave of radical legislation that will strip parents of their ability to protect their children and diminish the fairness and safety in women’s sports.
On November 5, protect your family, your values, and the future of our state by voting NO on Proposition 1.

Sincerely,
William Monti, North Salem
