Waterbury Man Killed In Putnam County Crash

He was carrying no identification and took several days to identify, according to the County Sheriff's Office.

PATTERSON, NY — A Waterbury, Connecticut man died in a crash Wednesday, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were dispatched to Route 311 just south of Caroline Drive in Patterson at 11:50 p.m. for a two-car motor vehicle accident with possible entrapment.

They found an Infiniti on the shoulder and an Acura off the roadway that had hit a tree.

The driver of the Infiniti, 35-year-old Ayesha Smith of Patterson, told police that she was driving north on Route 311 when she saw the Acura coming towards her in her lane at a high rate of speed. She attempted to turn to avoid a collision. The Acura struck her car on the passenger side and continued off the roadway, where it struck a tree.

The driver of the Acura was pronounced dead at the scene.

Smith was transported to Danbury Hospital by Patterson Ambulance for injuries. A passenger in the Acura was also transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment.

The Patterson Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene with traffic control and medical aid.

The Acura driver had no identification and took several days to identify as Rashan Hall, 24, of Waterbury, the sheriff's office said.

Members of the Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police Troop K Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating the accident.
