Man Hits Sunset Park 3-Year-Old With Bottle During Street Fight: NYPD

An enraged man sent a 3-year-old to the hospital after accidentally hitting the baby with a bottle during a fight at 60th and 5th, cops say.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — A 3-year-old child in Sunset Park was sent to Lutheran Hospital on Tuesday morning with lacerations over the eye, police said, after an enraged man threw a bottle that accidentally struck the toddler.

According to the NYPD, shortly after 9 a.m., a 23-year-old man exited a store near the intersection of 60th Street and 5th Avenue.

The man, apparently angry about something that had occurred in the store, picked up a bottle and hurled it. The NYPD said he may have been aiming for the business — although DNAinfo reported that he was targeting another individual. In either case, the projectile hit the child, who was not the intended target, according to the NYPD.
