Car Overturns On Gowanus Expressway During Morning Rush Hour

The car flipped over on the Manhattan-bound side of the highway near 39th Street on Thursday morning, fire officials said.

SUNSET PARK, NY — A car overturned on the Gowanus Expressway during the Thursday morning rush hour, causing heavy delays for drivers heading towards Manhattan, officials said.

The vehicle crashed and flipped over on the Manhattan-bound side of the highway near 39th Street, right before the Prospect Expressway exit, at about 7:49 a.m., a spokesman for the FDNY said.

A person was evaluated by emergency workers on the scene but refused medical attention, the FDNY said. No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The crash backed up traffic all the way towards the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in Staten Island and there was still residual delays as of 8:36 a.m., a spokesman for the MTA said.
