'Decomposed' Body Washes Up On Sunset Park Shore

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — A body washed up onto a Sunset Park shore over the weekend, police said.

The body was found in the water off of First Avenue and 54th Street, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. The body was badly "decomposed," the spokesman said.

Few other details were available about the body. The NYPD said the circumstances around the death are "unknown," and a sex for the dead person was not given.

The body has been taken to the Medical Examiner's office, which will attempt to identify it and determine the cause of death, police said.
