R Train Hits Man On Tracks: Third Brooklyn Subway Casualty Within 24 Hours

R train service was interrupted in South Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon after a man jumped in front of a train, according to the MTA.

BAY RIDGE, BROOKLYN — A man is in "serious to critical" condition after jumping in front of a northbound R train at the 86th Street station in Bay Ridge around 1:17 p.m. Wednesday, according to city officials. He's now being treated at Lutheran Hospital.

Directly after he was hit, R trains were running express until the 59th Street station in Sunset Park. By 2:30 p.m., though, R trains were merely skipping the 86th Street station.

Wednesday's R train jumper is the third man reported to have been hit by a train in Brooklyn in the past 24 hours. The other two died.
