Sgt. Carlos Nieves, head of the NYPD's press division, tweeted dramatic photos and video late Wednesday of firefighters searching through mountains of rubble at the scene, as a "precaution." (His footage is included below.)
By 10 p.m., the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) had determined the building was unoccupied at the time of collapse, and that no one had been injured, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.
