Here are the top stories today in Sunset Park:

  1. 5 New Sunset Park area properties are for sale. The Patch provides you with a glimpse of what properties are available in your area, such as a house in the Brooklyn area with 5 beds and 3 baths for $1.2 million, and another in the Brooklyn area for $1.9 million. (Sunset Park Patch)
  2. Mayor Eric Adams announced that the New York Embroidery Studio will be the newest tenant at the Brooklyn Army Terminal. The expansion is expected to create more than 500 on-site jobs, an estimated $73 million in economic output for the city. The design manufacturer will take over nearly 80,000 square feet for its state-of-the-art facility. (nyc.gov)
  3. Chancellor David Banks is determined to transform New York City's schools "from the bottom up." Giving principals more autonomy for principals, or principal empowerment, is one way he wants to do that, according to Banks. Curriculum is also on the chancellor's radar: Banks has lauded the city's efforts to create culturally responsive and relevant materials, and blasted the approach to literacy instruction used in many schools today. Taken together, his vision could add up to something that looks much different than principal empowerment of the past. (Patch)
