  1. On Thursday morning, the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs and community groups made an announcement that NYC launched a $2 million initiative to support Ukrainians newly arriving in the city. An "immigration application assistance clinic to assist Ukrainian nationals with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) applications" began after the press conference. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
  2. Thursday, during the city’s first MTA “transit-improvement summit,” Mayor Eric Adams and MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber announced plans to improve mass transit service. The joint effort will bring faster and more reliable bus service, according to the mayor, and 150 miles of new and enhanced bus lanes over the next four years. (Spectrum News NY1)
  3. Late Wednesday, Marcus Bryant, 37, a New York City subway rider, died after a "piece of his clothing" got stuck in the train door as he was getting off, pulling him along the station platform and onto tracks below, police said. Bryant was unconscious and unresponsive when first responders arrived at the scene, police said. He was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, but later died of his injuries, police said.   4. New York's Juneteenth celebrations have begun! The 13th Annual Juneteenth New York Festival began with virtual celebrations, which will be followed by in-person gatherings on the 18th and 19th. (CBS New York)
