Here are the top stories in Sunset Park today:
- 5 new houses for sale in the Sunset Park Area. Patch provides you with a sampling of the newest batch of properties to go up for sale in and around Sunset Park — such as one in the Brooklyn area with 2 beds and 2 baths for $588,000, and another in the Brooklyn area with 13 beds and 5 baths for $2.7 million. (Sunset Park Patch)
- The first step of de Blasio's plan to close Rikers undertaken by the Adams administration is to bring down the Brooklyn House of Detention. The city agency, which oversees the jail's development, told Patch in an email that the shorter part of the building will be demolished "in the spring" and the rest of the jail teardown will start "in the summer." The Brooklyn jail development has not been widely supported by neighbors, many of whom oppose the proposed jail's height, which could be as tall as 295 feet (double its current size). (Patch)
- Join in on the festivities of the Park Slope St. Patrick's Day parade! On Sunday, March 20, the Brooklyn St. Patrick's Parade will kick off at 12:30 p.m. at Bartel-Pritchard Square on the southwestern tip of Prospect Park. This upcoming installment of the parade marks a return to normalcy, though, with all the beloved activities from years past, including live music, marching bands, Irish dancers, face painting, and more, organizers said.
