Here are the top stories in Sunset Park today:

  1. Operating out of a Sunset Park warehouse, South Brooklyn Mutual Aid’s more than 900 volunteers have delivered over 30,000 grocery boxes to hungry neighbors from Park Slope to Bensonhurst. They’ve also distributed backpacks and school supplies to children in the area and are organizing a toy drive for the community — enough to provide gifts for the holiday season to about 300 families, according to organizer Whitney Hu. “We’ve been able to push back on what people think charity looks like." (Brooklyn Paper)
  2. On March 6, a gunman allegedly approached a man inside his car on Avenue W and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle. The victim was shot in his thigh and thumb and was transported to Lutheran Medical Center in Sunset Park. (Brooklyn Paper)
  3. NYC's only indoor biking facility recently opened in Brooklyn. Bikes, Boards, and Books launched in Quay Tower near the Brooklyn Bridge Park, and is mainly geared towards children, but is open to adults for private lessons. The staff will also hold small group reading and writing workshops for kids. (Bikes, Boards + Books)
