Here are the top stories in Sunset Park today:
- Bush Terminal in Sunset Park is booming! The plan is to "expand Brooklyn’s footprint in the City’s fashion industry, and provide a $57 million boost to New York’s economy," Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement. According to a press release from the mayor and the New York City Economic Development Corporation, Sunset Park is home to the second largest concentration of garment manufacturers and employment in New York City. Sunset Park residents will have free access to all programming and events held by Slow Factory, including youth-oriented climate adaptation events and waste-led design workshops focused on skills training. (Brooklyn Reader)
- The wind howled all night, and the rain became heavy at times as a severe storm blew into the tri-state area overnight and into Friday morning. Thousands of customers woke up without power in New York and New Jersey. Temps were expected to plunge after the storms pass. (WPIX 11 New York)
- Housing lottery! "The affordable housing lottery has launched for 874 Willoughby Ave., a nine-story mixed-use building in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Designed by Stavros Malliaros, the structure yields 93 residences, ground-floor commercial space, and 42 parking spaces. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 28 units for residents at 80 to 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $35,760 to $139,620," reported New York YIMBY. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than April 18. (New York YIMBY)
