Here are the top stories in Sunset Park today:

  1. One of the victims in the Sunset Park subway shooting filed a lawsuit against Glock, the maker of the gun used in the shooting. Federal law has denied almost all lawsuits against the gun industry, until now. Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a state law last year to allow civil cases to be heard. This case can be a test for the new law. (Gothamist)
  2. "Enough is enough" shouted protesters at the March for Our Lives demonstrations held in New York and across the country Saturday. "Angry and tired of mass shootings, the protesters say they want change, or they will head to the ballot box to create their own." (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
  3. On Monday, Gov. Kathy Hochul signed six bills into law protecting abortion access in New York State. The laws included retaliation clauses allowing New Yorkers to file lawsuits against anyone restricting their access to abortion and protecting women seeking refuge from neighboring states where abortion may become criminalized. (AMNY)
