Here are the top stories in Sunset Park today:

1. Ready or not, the weekend is expected to be hot and hazardous! According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures across the city Saturday and Sunday could hit 90 degrees and possibly up to 95 degrees. Stay cool. (Patch)
2. On Friday, former mayor, Bill De Blasio, is running for Congress in the newly-mapped 10th District, which covers Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn from Park Slope to Borough Park. Can his experience as a Mayor help the 10th District, he believes so. (Patch)
3. A Brooklyn high school student was charged with phoning in one of three phony bomb threats to Fort Hamilton High School earlier this week. Dan Awadh, 18, was arrested on Thursday after he was linked to one of the calls made to his own school. Awadh lives just a few blocks from the Bay Ridge school. (Yahoo News)
4. The FDNY hosted the Second Chance Ceremony in Brooklyn on Wednesday. The emotional event reunited 10 survivors of cardiac arrests with the first responders who helped to save their lives. Responders and survivors convened at the Liberty Warehouse. (New York Daily News)
   
5. Even though temperatures in Brooklyn will be pushing into the 90s this weekend, now is the best time to get out of your stuffy apartment and hit the streets for a backyard comedy show, watch some of the year’s best short films, or chow down on summer delights. (Brooklyn Magazine)
