  1. Acting Supreme Court Justice Patrick McAllister declared New York’s new legislative maps unconstitutional, saying the map-drawing process led by Democrats had been irrevocably tainted or skewed. The case is expected to go to the state’s appellate division and eventually the New York Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court. (SILive.com)
  2. Moshe Piller, a NYC landlord with 15 buildings in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx, has 1,900 violations and a civil lawsuit against him for allowing his buildings to deteriorate to the point where they pose an imminent threat to the health and safety of the tenants. Shortly after the suit was filed, Mayor Eric Adams said in a press release that it is time that landlords who break the law pay. (Patch)
  3. The cherry blossoms are in bloom! Though the earliest cherry trees have already begun blooming, there are weeks of pink and white flowers to come. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden offers 26 types of flowering cherry trees, waiting for you to see. (Subscription: The New York Times)
  4. Danueal Drayton, 31, had an alleged history of violence against women that he met online. He is now accused of killing a Queens nurse, Samantha Stewart, 29, at her Jamaica home on July 17, 2018. Drayton was brought back to Queens from California to face trial for murder, grand larceny, identity theft and sexual misconduct. (New York Post)
