Here are the top stories in Sunset Park today:

  1. See the newest adoptable pets at Sunset Park area shelters. Meet Gwen and Leah, this bonded pair are beautiful female domestic short hair kittens waiting for their furrever home. If dogs are more to your liking, meet Harald Sigurdsson, a puppy who is handsome, charismatic, and wants his furrever home. (Sunset Park Patch)
  2. Who's hiring in the Sunset Park area? This week's listing is long and diverse. If you are good working with people, there are so many possibilities for you. You can search for more job openings in your area on the Sunset Park Patch jobs board. (Sunset Park Patch)
  3. On Monday, Mayor Eric Adams honored FDNY members who responded to the Sunset Park subway shooting attack that injured nearly two dozen people last month. “These heroes in the room — our first responders jumped into action,” Adams said. “Far too often, we don’t say thank you enough and that’s what we’re doing today.” Each member received an official proclamation from the mayor. (News 12 Brooklyn)
  4. Just after midnight on Friday, court-appointed "special master" Jonathan Cervas released the final redistricting maps for Congress and the State Senate. The 10th Congressional District now includes Sunset Park, uniting Brooklyn and Manhattan's Chinatowns, while districts in Central Brooklyn were redrawn so as not to break up neighborhoods. (City & State)
  5. Mayor Eric Adams declared New York City in a "state of emergency" in an attempt to prevent the price-gouging of baby formula, which is currently in short supply across the country. Meanwhile, the Biden administration has begun to import baby formula from other countries through "Operation Fly Formula." (amNY)
