🌱 Sunset Park Daily: NYC "High" Risk For COVID-19 + Murdered By Mom

2. New York City is under "high" risk for COVID-19. On Tuesday morning, Ashwin Vasan, Health Commissioner, announced the change in coronavirus alert status. Data shows, the city is averaging 3,500 cases a day and positivity stands at 9.11 percent. Mayor Eric Adams has said he doesn't anticipate a return to strict masking mandates. (Patch)
3. Special Master Jonathan Cervas carved out his version of New York’s Congressional District Map. On Monday, in a court filing Cervas claimed his version of political boundaries will create "eight competitive races across the entire state, as opposed to just three competitive races," Cervas said. The changes include linking parts of Red Hook to Sunset Park and removing "super-liberal" Park Slope. (THE CITY)
4. According to police and reports, a Brooklyn mother, Shemene Cato, 48, was charged with murder after her 9-year-old daughter was found dead in their Crown Heights home. According to the city's medical examiner report, Shalom Guifarro, 9, died of multiple blunt-force trauma injuries. Cato also faces manslaughter, assault and a weapons charge; an electrical cord was used to hit Shalom, police said. (Patch)
