Here are the top stories today in Sunset Park:
- Brooklyn’s Yafa Café in Sunset Park supports growers in war torn Yemen — the surprising birthplace of the coffee bean. In 2019, Hakim Sulaimani opened up his café to honor his roots, pairing Yemeni coffee beans with the most typical of recipes for breakfast treats and light bites. Sulaimani attempts to bring about a Yemeni renaissance by turning his brand from a line of cafés into a complete Yemeni wholesaler. (Good News Network)
- Sunset Park area real estate roundup. See six properties for sale; we're bringing you some of the newest and most interesting houses to hit the market in Sunset Park. Check out the open houses as well! (Sunset Park Patch)
- St. Patrick's Day 2022 is around the corner. Are you looking for a St. Patrick’s Day parade to bring the family? In Brooklyn, the 45th Annual Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Parade will be held
March 20, at 1 p.m. from 15th Street and Prospect Park West, South Slope. The theme of the parade is “The Gathering of Irish Immigrants, Prospect Park.” (New York Family) - Not since the 2008 recession has gas topped $4 a gallon. According to AAA, gas prices in NYC are already at $4.37 a gallon on average. President Joe Biden's embargo on Russian oil exports may not have the greatest effect since that crude represents about 8 percent of the United States’ foreign oil, according to The Wall Street Journal. The United States and its partners will release 60 million barrels of oil from strategic reserves to minimize "Putin's price hike" at the gas pumps, Biden said. (Patch)
