Sunset Park Has Least Amount Of 'Native New Yorkers' In Brooklyn

Hello, gentrification.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — Sunset Park has fewer native New Yorkers living in it than any other neighborhood in Brooklyn, according to a new analysis of data from NYU's Furman Center.

In fact, Sunset Park ranks 52nd out of the 59 New York City neighborhoods included in the analysis. The data counts a "native New Yorker" as someone who was born in New York state.

The research comes from the Furman Center's Classification of New York City’s Sub-Borough Areas, which provides troves of information about the city's changing neighborhoods.

While Sunset Park was ranked lowest, Brownsville was ranked the highest among Brooklyn neighborhoods. The area with the most native New Yorkers in the whole city was The South Shore of Staten Island, according to Brokelyn.
