The waitress, Lan Shui Yu, confessed to the crime to her friend, according to the Brooklyn district attorney's office.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — A Sunset Park waitress has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for stabbing a man who sat down at the Chinese restaurant where she worked, according to the Brooklyn district attorney's office.

Lan Shui Yu, 37, worked at Lucky Zhang, on Eighth Avenue and 57th Street. One night in February 2016, a man whose family owns the restaurant sat down and made a comment to her, the D.A.'s office said.

Yu slapped him and punched him in the head, the office said, before grabbing a knife and stabbing him in the back and the chest.

Yu, meanwhile, walked out of the restaurant and went to a friend's house, according to the office, where she cleaned up and confessed to the murder. When police found her, she told them that Zhang "cursed at her so she stabbed him," according to the D.A.'s office.

The killing was also caught on video, the office said.

Yu pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in March. She was sentenced Tuesday.
