5 Nassau Teens Broke Into A Dozen Businesses: Police

Police say the teens smashed the front glass of the businesses, and then burglarized many of them.

SYOSSET, NY — Five Nassau County teenagers were responsible for smashing windows and doors of a dozen Syosset businesses and burglarizing many of them, Nassau County police said.

According to police, officers responded to a call Tuesday morning for multiple businesses that had their front doors and windows smashed open. Many of them also had cash and items stolen.

Police say an investigation led detectives to five teens living at the Mercy First facility, located at 525 Convent Road.

A 16-year-old boy and girl, a 15-year-old girl and two 14-year-old boys were each charged with eight counts of third-degree burglary and four counts of felony criminal mischief. The 16-year-olds are both scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court Youth Part in Hempstead. The other three were released on appearance tickets returnable to Family Court in Westbury on June 21.

Police say the 16-year-old boy was previously arrested on May 31 and June 3 and charged with burglary both times.
