The driver saw the blaze and rushed to get the family out before first responders had arrived.
SYOSSET, NY — An Amazon delivery driver saved the lives of a Syosset family after their house quickly caught fire Saturday afternoon.
According to police, the fire started after 4:30 p.m. in the home on Bluebird Drive. News 12 reported that Amazon driver Kevin Rivera saw the blaze as he finished up his route, and saw people in the home, who had not yet noticed the fire. He ran to the home and pounded on the front door until someone opened it, and then escorted the family out the back of the house to safety.
Police say that, when the first officers and firefighters arrived on the scene, everyone was already evacuated from the home. The Syosset Fire Department was assisted by the Jericho, Cold Spring Harbor, Oyster Bay, Plainview, Westbury, Hicksville, Bethpage and Locust Valley fire departments.
