SYOSSET, NY — The Town of Oyster Bay honored lifeguards and first responders that saved the life of a 4-year-old boy who nearly drowned in the Syosset-Woodbury Park Pool earlier this month.

On Aug. 13, 4-year-old Vincent was playing with friends in the pool when lifeguards noticed that he hadn't come back up to the surface. Lifeguards Gianna Magrino, Ryan Harrison, Timothy Nealon, John Shea, and Cameron Martinez sprang into action and pulled Vincent from the water moments later.

When they pulled him out, the lifeguards found that Vincent was not breathing and had no pulse. The lifeguards began their life-saving measures, and after 30 chest compressions, Vincent spat out water and started to breathe again. He stayed with the lifeguards until paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital.
