SYOSSET, NY — A fire at a Syosset hotel caused a scare Wednesday night, but the blaze caused less damage than putting it out did.

According to Nassau County police, officers and firefighters responded to the Comfort Inn at 24 Oak Drive at 9:15 p.m. for a fire. Officers evacuated guests at the hotel while the Syosset Fire Department tackled the fire. It was a minor fire that was coming from a dryer vent in the laundry room.

The fire did not cause any structural damage to the building, but the hotel did suffer extensive water damage from dousing the fire.
