News 12's Carol Silva Returning To Work After Cancer Diagnosis
Silva says she is making "amazing progress" in battling stage 4 cancer. She will be back on the anchor desk next week.
News 12 Long Island anchor Carol Silva will return to the anchor desk next Monday, two months after she announced that had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer
"I am so happy," Silva said in a Facebook video (watch it above) posted Wednesday. "My doctors at Northwell say I am making amazing progress."
Silva announced in June she would be retiring in December from News 12, where she has spent more than three decades on the anchor desk.

Silva, a Hicksville native, has won numerous awards, including three Emmys and more than 30 New York State Associated Press Awards, during her career. The Girl Scouts of America honored Silva with its highest award given to an adult, the "Juliette Low Award," for her volunteer work.
While attending the Long Island International Film Expo in July to receive the first LIIFE Excellence in Newscasting Award, Silva told Judy Goss that she was retiring so she could "see what's next, to do something else while I'm still young and strong and healthy."
