Free concerts at local libraries this month (jericho-news-journal.com) — Syosset music lovers can catch a free Distinguished Artists Concert Series performance by The Chimes honoring Lenny Cocco at the Syosset Public Library on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at 1 p.m. Sponsored by Oyster Bay’s CAPA division, the townwide series also brings Beatles tributes and country-rock shows to nearby Massapequa and Plainview-Old Bethpage libraries.
   

2. Northwell nurses strike looms as negotiation talks continue (newsday.com) — Nurses at Northwell’s Syosset, Plainview, and Huntington hospitals could go on strike as soon as Monday over what they call unsafe staffing levels and heavy workloads. Union leaders and Northwell are still negotiating, with the system activating contingency plans and disputing claims that nurse-to-patient ratios are unmanageable.
   

3. Drunk Bar Owner Ran Over Pedestrian, Left Victim Fighting For Life On Long Island: DA (dailyvoice.com) — A Syosset man has been indicted after prosecutors say he struck a pedestrian in Oyster Bay with his pickup truck and then drove home to Syosset, where police later found the vehicle. The victim suffered serious injuries but survived, and the Nassau County District Attorney says the defendant, a bar owner with a long‑revoked license, now faces multiple felony charges.
   

4. FCD's Jordyn Heathcock called into January US U17 camp (3rddegree.net) — A Syosset, N.Y. player, Loradana Paletta of New York City FC’s youth system, has been selected for the U.S. Under-17 women’s national team camp in Spain this month. She’ll train and play friendlies against Germany and Denmark alongside 19 other top prospects from around the country.
