JERICHO, NY — Santa Claus and his elves paid a visit to Jericho over the weekend as Jericho firefighters held their annual toy and food drive to help families in need.
The Jericho Fire Department event, a community staple since the 1980s, was held over the weekend. Firefighters also brought holiday cheer to assisted living and nursing homes in the area.
Each year the fire department collects and delivers unwrapped toys and nonperishable food. The firefighters got a helping hand from Santa and his elves, who rode in on fire trucks and delivered gifts to families and smiling children. Many parents happily received a bag of food.
