School Goes Into Lockdown When Former Student Tries To Enter: PD

The man, who did not have an appointment to enter the school, was carrying a large piece of black luggage, police say.

A former student was arrested for trespassing on Syosset High School property with a large piece of black luggage on Tuesday afternoon, police say.

According to authorities, Ilya Yurchenko, 19, of Medford, approached the main entrance of Syosset High School, located at 70 Southwoods Road, and attempted to enter the building with the luggage at 4:15 p.m. Yurchenko was denied entry as he did not have an appointment, the Syosset Central School District said in a statement.

He then placed the luggage on the side of the school and went in through the gym entrance, police say.
