Syosset Students Enjoy Multicultural Expo

H. B. Thompson Middle School holds international celebration.

Students, faculty and administrators at H.B. Thompson Middle School, in the Syosset School District, celebrated its Multicultural Week headed up by the school’s world language program.

Throughout the week of Jan. 26, the students were treated to a diverse array of international learning experiences, from sign language lessons, to traditional Israeli dance, to lessons in Yiddish, Latin and Central Africa.

The culminating event took place on Jan. 30 in the school’s gymnasium, where the students set up booths representing countries from all over the world. Using large, decorative boards, the students created a virtual Epcot Center along the walls of the gym. Foods from every corner of the world were available for sample, and traditional music mingled in the background. The day even featured a life-size entrance to an Egyptian temple!
