2 Westchester Towns Lead List Of Safest In New York, New Report Finds
One town had the lowest violent crime rate in NY and a village had the lowest property crime rate, according to the SafeHome.org study.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — When it comes to crime, the Hudson Valley is home to some of the safest and most concerning towns in New York, according to a just released new study.
Westchester is ranked among the safest places to live, and two of the county's communities are the very safest in the state, according to the survey.
The Town of New Castle has the lowest violent crime rate, including homicide, aggravated assault, rape, and robbery. Rye Brook also made the list with one of the lowest violent crime rates statewide.

The Village of Sleepy Hollow has the state’s lowest property crime rate, including larceny, motor vehicle theft, and burglary. Lewisboro and Tuckahoe were also listed as having some of the lowest property crime rates in the state.
Meanwhile, the village of Herkimer, in central New York state, had the highest rate of property crime, and Newburgh had the highest violent crime levels.

The new analysis of FBI crime data was conducted by the researchers at SafeHome.org.
Overall, New York's violent crime rate was 13 percent above the national average.
The study used reporting compiled by the FBI and accessed via the Crime Data Explorer website.
