stay off roads if possible--roads still slippery --we need more snow angels
Our crews are working hard to clear roads of snow and make them safe. Have been working since 8 PM last night. Snow angel volunteer form
Just got off the phone with the Greenburgh Police department and with the Commissioner of Public Works. The entire public works team is working. They have been working since 8 PM last night preparing for the storm. And worked during the evening. The crews won't stop clearing the roads of snow until roads are in excellent shape. We are lucky to have a group of dedicated professionals who want to keep you safe. They take their responsibilities very seriously.
According to the police roads are slippery and slick. They recommend that you avoid driving if possible until the weather improves. A few accidents according to the police.
SIX NEW SNOW ANGEL VOLUNTEERS SINCE YESTERDAY
According to Edgemont High School student Vivian Holland, coordinator of our Greenburgh snow angels program, six new volunteers signed up yesterday to help their neighbors clear driveways of snow. I had posted a request for more volunteers on the town website and on social media on Friday. THANK YOU! We still need more volunteers
we have a number of seniors or disabled residents in town who could use help shoveling out but can’t afford the normal rates. They can afford to pay something but are on a fixed income. We are looking for able-bodied individuals and teens who would be interested in EARNING SOME EXTRA QUICK CASH while also offering these folks a discounted price.
*If interested, please fill out this form for the SNOW ANGELS program and indicate you’d like to be a vendor and what your rate is, along with anything else we should know, so we can connect you with people looking to pay for some labor. http://bit.ly/snowangelvolunteers
.
While we do have a volunteer Snow Angel program, there are a limited amount of busy teenagers and we can’t guarantee help to meet all the need. We realized we should try to pair residents with someone willing to help on their very own street. Some seniors have given us permission to find them a neighbor to help them specifically. Below is a short list of some residential streets where there is a senior/disabled resident in need who is on fixed income and could use some help.
*If you live on one of these streets and would like to assist someone right near you, please also fill out this form: http://bit.ly/snowangelvolunteers and indicate you’re a neighbor who would like to help your neighbor.
The streets we have someone to help on currently are:
BARNWELL DRIVE, WHITE PLAINS
DRISLER AVE, WHITE PLAINS
NORTH WASHINGTON, HARTSDALE
W. HARTSDALE AVE, HARTSDALE
PINEWOOD ROAD, HARTSDALE
NORTHWAY, HARTSDALE
GREENWOOD LANE, WHITE PLAINS
KENNETH ROAD, HARTSDALE
*Finally, if you’re open to volunteering wherever is needed near you, please also fill out our volunteer form so we can pair you with some seniors in need. http://bit.ly/snowangelvolunteers
THANK YOU ALL and happy holidays, we so appreciate your help this winter!
