Sunnyside Visitors Stuff Scarecrows

Amanda and Max Buchman surveyed the field of old clothes, eyeing up their choices to outfit their scarecrows.

After hanging a plaid dress and ripped shirt onto the wooden stakes—tied tightly by the volunteer staff at Washington Irving's Sunnyside Legend Celebration—they set to work, stuffing enough fistfuls of hay to complete puffed up scarecrows complete with their hand-drawn heads.

The Buchmans were among hundreds of visitors to the historic Hudson Valley Mansion, where theatrical performances of some of Irving's best known stories, including "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," and "The Devil and Tom Walker" were performed by The Sunnyside Players.
