College Sports Round Up: Jamie Bucci's Final Game

From contributor Dick Miller, here's what our grads from Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown are up to in college sports. This week's spotlight on Jamie Bucci:

In the final game of her first year as the starting right fielder for the Cortland Red Dragons' softball team, freshman Jamie Bucci of Sleepy Hollow had a bunt single which scored a run that tied the game with Tufts University, 5-5, in a game to decide who would be the N.C.A.A. Division III champion. Tufts eventually pushed over one more run that gave the Jumbos the 6-5 victory and the title.

On the season, Cortland had a record of 35-17/13-5, with the southpaw batting Bucci starting 38 of the nine's 46 games. She was at bat 107 times, scored 24 runs on 26 hits, including 1 triple, had 4 runs batted in, walked 6 times, was hit by a pitch 7 times. She fanned 5 times, was 6-6 in steal attempts, made 37 putouts, had 4 assists, made 2 errors, and had a .953 fielding average.
