Police received a 911 call on Dec. 1 at 2:22 a.m. for wires down on North Broadway across from the Manor neighborhood in Sleepy Hollow.
A second caller reported a car had now struck the low-hanging wires and brought down the utility pole. Running into the wires caused the driver to hit a wall and sustain front end damages to his car from a tree.
Police found that the pole appeared to be rotten and tilting, which is why the wires were sagging in the first place.
The whole situation meant there was no power in adjacent Philipse Manor from Hemlock Drive south to Pierson Avenue.
The fire department was dispatched along with Con Edison.
Meanwhile, the driver who ran into the wires, the wall and a tree was found to have an expired license. He sustained no injuries.
Police took photos of the scene and requested more police for manpower. The car was impounded.
Con Ed arrived at 2:55 a.m. The scene was cleared at 7:30 a.m. with power restored by then to the neighborhood.
