Welcoming One New Trustee Among Veterans
Among the incumbent-heavy slate of candidates in both villages was one first timer with decades of Village experience. Meet Glenn Rosenbloom, Sleepy Hollow's newest Trustee.
Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown candidates gathered at two quiet parties Tuesday night in the villages as volunteers arrived with each district's election results.
The answer was quickly clear in Sleepy Hollow at Que Chula that the uncontested candidates were indeed uncontested (there were only a handful of write-ins).
The only non-incumbent candidate between both villages was Sleepy Hollow's new Trustee Glenn Rosenbloom. "I have the time and energy to devote to the business at hand," Rosenbloom said. "I appreciate the support and I'm anxious to justify the support. The caucus was a healthy process. We would have welcomed the debate [of a contested race] but at the same time it's an acknowledgment that people like what we're doing."

In Tarrytown, the Tarrytown United camp gathered at Little B's knew there was a chance that firefighter Robert Smith ("Smitty"), unhappy with the way government is going, could gather enough write-in votes in his last-minute online campaign to throw the whole slate. This did not happen however, as he may have scored up to 39 votes (as of the unofficial count just after 9:20 p.m.). The 39 votes were a total of write-in votes for both Mayor, Trustee and unspecified and not all of them were necessarily attributed to Smith.
Election results didn't speak of big winners as much as dismal turnout. With the winners already almost predetermined, and snow making a slushy mess of things on Tuesday, most people didn't bother to go to the polls.

However, Tarrytown Democratic Party chair Linda Viertel said the results were "vindicating," pointing to "very strong leadership in the village."
Returning Trustee Doug Zollo said, "we do a good job. If we didn't go it, who's going to do it? In all seriousness. It's a great group, and there's lots of work to do and we're going to continue doing it, thankfully. We take this very seriously."
