Firefighters Association To Hold Convention In Tarrytown
Firefighter Jared Lloyd, who died in 2021 fighting the Spring Valley Assisted Living Center fire will be honored.
TARRYTOWN, NY — The Firefighters Association of the State of New York will hold its 150th annual convention beginning Wednesday in Tarrytown.
Hundreds of firefighters from all over New York will be in attendance.
Firefighter Jared Lloyd of the Spring Valley Fire Department, who died in March 2021, will receive the Firefighter of the Year Award.

Organizers said his actions in fighting the Spring Valley Assisted Living Center fire saved many of the residents and staff members, and he was also personally responsible for saving the life of a brother firefighter.
Tom Bingham and Shawn Disanto of the Aurelius Volunteer Fire Department will receive the EMS Provider of the Year Award for their coordinated and immediate lifesaving assistance of a driver who had been ejected from their vehicle.

Firefighters Lloyd, Bingham, and Disanto will be feted in a ceremony by the members of the Firefighters Association of the State of New York and awarded Medals of Valor.
The convention will begin at 9 a.m. at the Mary Duke Ballroom at the Tarrytown House Estate on The Hudson in Tarrytown. It will run through Saturday.
