Perry served as the first female commissioner of the Department of Community Resources, leading it when construction of a second floor at the Theodore Young Community Center was built.

She lobbied the state for funds for the addition, which enabled the center to provide patrons and children with additional programming, including a dance studio, classroom and social programs.

Prior to being appointed commissioner, Perry served as assistant to the commissioner to the town’s parks department.

Feiner said Perry was a special woman who was passionate about the community and the center.

“She spoke out on matters she felt strongly about and wasn’t afraid to express herself,” he said. “She did a tremendous amount of good during her life and changed many lives in a positive manner.”

The Town Board will meet at Town Hall, 177 Hillside Ave.
