May 22nd was a day to remember for the Hackley School Yellow Jackets' track and field team. At Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island Park, both squads performed as true champions in the meet.
Tessa Cavanaugh launched the Hackley girls scoring when she finished 2nd in the Girls 100 Dash, with a time of 12.65. Teammate Raechelle Emanuel was 6th in the Girls 200 Meter Dash, clocking 26.85. She was also 6th in the 400 Meter Dash, hitting the tape in 1:01.36. Julia Sevenson was 5th in the Girls 3000 Run, in 11:12.39, with fellow Jacket Lana Tager 14th, at 12:19.77. Alysa Ngbokoli had a 2nd place finish in the 100 Meter Hurdles, with a clocking of 15.97, and then proceeded to cop the 400 Meter Hurdles, and did so in 1:06.38. Greer Levin took 3rd honors in the 2000 Meter Steeplechase, in 8:03.99, after which the 4x100 Meter Relay foursome copped their race with a time of 49.95. The 4x800 quartet were 4th in their event, clocking in at 10:40.00.
In field events, Isabel Hayward finished 3rd in the Pole Vault with her height of 6-00.00. Ngbokoli was 3rd in the Triple Jump, at 24-10.75, and Alexis Arnold was the winner of the Shot Put, at 29-03.00. Paula Stone was 2nd in the Discus Throw, going 70-11.
In boys action, two Jackets finished 1-2 in the 100 Meter Dash, with Mustafaa Dais winning in 10.75 and Elijah Ngbokoli next, in 11:21. Ian Parnell had back-to-back victories, as he took the 200 Meter Dash in 22.31 and the 400 Meter Dash in 49.55. Pietro Moran finished 5th in the 800 Run with his clocking of 2:04.73, and then was 6th in the 1600 Meter Run, with a time of 4:32.31. Joe Shalabi copped 7th place in the 3200 Meter Run, in 20:53.48. In the 110 Meter Hurdles, Ian Mook was 2nd, in 16.32, and then was also runner up in the 400 Meter Hurdles, at 58.40. In the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, Hackley's Tristan Jung took 2nd honors in 10:45.37, while teammate Chris Cacase was 3d in 11:16.77. The 4x100 Meter Relay Quartet won their race in 44.16, as did the 4x400 Meter Relay team, whose clocking was 3:32.17. The 4x800 Relay foursome were 6th, timed at 9:11.01.
Dais copped the Boys High Jump in field action, with an elevation of 5-10.00, while Camilo Santomaro was 2nd in the Pole Vault, at 9-06.00. Dais also prevailed in the Long Jump with his distance of 21-10.50, and then copped the Triple Jump, going 42-08.00. Harry Lieblich captured 3rd plce in the Shot Put, with his heave of 39-11, and then was third in the Discus Throw, at 102-07.
The boys team won the day with 103.50 points, topping runner up Collegiate School, which garnered 150 on the day.
The ladies also emerged victorious, earning 103.50 points to outscore 2nd place Spence School, which had 82.
