In Memoriam: Anne M. Nielson, 87

Nielson was a lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow; visitation for her will be held Monday afternoon at Coffey Funeral Home with a funeral mass at St. Teresa's on Tuesday.

Anne M. Nielsen, a lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow died April 6, 2013 at the age of 87. Born in North Tarrytown on November 17, 1925, she was the daughter of Ignac and Mary Slavik Karac. Annie graduated from North Tarrytown High School in 1944. On June 30, 1962, she married John D. Nielsen in Holy Cross Church.

Annie was a cook in many local restaurants including Horsefeathers. She had been a parishioner of Holy Cross Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Sleepy Hollow Seniors and the Ladies Sokol Lodge.

She is survived by her son William M. Burke, her brother Stephen Karac and her sister-in-law Antonia Singer all of Sleepy Hollow as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John, brothers Paul, Joseph, Ludwig, Anthony and John Singer, Edward Karac and her sister Mary Hanley.  

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Monday from 4 PM to 8 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 10:00 at St. Teresa of Avila Church with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
