Man Drives into Union Avenue Wall, Gets DWI Charge

Numerous 911 calls came into Tarrytown Police for a car crashing into a wall on Union Avenue.

Callers reported that the car’s door were unlocked and the driver was semi-conscious on May 7 at 5:23 p.m.  

Officers, Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Tarrytown Fire Department and towing were dispatched to the scene.

The driver was taken Westchester Medical Center, with police following for further investigation of the accident. Detectives took photographs of the scene.  

Police requested the fire department and Con Edison to test the gas line to the residence.

Police placed the driver under arrest for driving while intoxicated. William J. Blank, 74, consented to the chemical test to determine his blood alcohol count.
